The East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is repairing a collapsed retaining wall of the Cibening Connecting Channel on Jalan Swadaya 8, RT 08/01, Pulo Gebang Urban Village, Cakung Sub-district.

East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Puryanto Palebangan said, the retaining wall collapsed on January 24 during high water flow.

"This retaining wall is on both sides of the channel, each approximately nine meters long," he expressed, Wednesday (7/2).

He involved ten personnel to execute repairs and also used heavy equipment type excavator. This has been ongoing since yesterday using dolken wood to anticipate subsequent landslides.

"The next new retaining wall will be constructed using new materials combined with cast concrete slabs for durability," he explained.

He added, the work must be done with great caution as the location is directly adjacent to the homeowner's wall. It is targeted to be completed in 20 days.

"This is also at the lowest or downstream point before heading to the East Flood Canal. We remain committed to fully achieving the target," he stated.
